This series was made of my family in response to rising hate crimes during the corona virus pandemic. I grew very concerned with my parent's safety.
They are time based paintings (they are in the process of wearing away into their final form). These paintings are meant to be touched and the top layer of paint, to be worn away in order to reveal the portrait underneath. These are made for people in the future. The absence of touch during the pandemic was also a painful reminder of our separation from each other and I yearned for touch of closeness, intimacy, understanding while watching the touch of hate and violence on the news.
