Something I could not ignore during the pandemic was the rise of blatant racism and hate crimes. This series was made of my family into time based paintings (they are in the process of wearing away into their final form). These paintings are meant to be touched and the top layer of paint, the skin, to be worn away in order to reveal the portrait underneath. These are made for people in the future. The absence of touch during the pandemic was also a painful reminder of our separation from each other and I yearned for touch of closeness, intimacy, understanding while watching the touch of hate and violence on the news.
