MOBILE:  BIG DIPPER, 2018, 122cm x 90cm x 60cm, 3d printed resin, LED filament, steel

 

The 3 dimensional locations for the stars of the Big Dipper was plotted and put together.  The finished constellation is to be hung at eye level.  To see the recognizable shape we are accustomed to, one must lie on the ground and view from straight below, which is the earth's view (last image).

 

The stars were made by 3d printing resin then sanding and polishing them clear.  Flexible LED filament was placed inside.
